Banh Mi Boys, Toronto

This sandwich shop has been around for quite some time. Typically, I don't do lunch when I am in Toronto. But, I finally made it to this great sandwich shop. It is indeed worth the journey and the line-up. Ten bahn mi sandwiches are on offer and I could have tried all 10, including the grilled lemon grass pork with Asian BBQ sauce; grilled chicken with garlic soy and Asian BBQ sauce; 5 spice braised pork belly with pickled radish; meatball with tomato hoisin sauce; pulled smoke pork with luck sauce; kalbi beef short ribs with kim chee and Asian BBQ sauce; crispy squid rings with lime vinaigrette; braised duck confit leg with onion chutney. All sandwiches come topped with cilantro and julienne of pickled carrots and cucumber. The restaurant also offers steamed bao buns and tacos with a more limited selection of fillings as well as an interesting selection of fries.

Slow cooked braised beef cheek with onion chutney on a crispy baguette slathered with house mayo, julienne of pickled carrots, cucumber and cilantro. Delicious and memorable for me.
